Way back in January, we posted about the beginning of our biggest project yet, the re-development of our Chemicals.co.uk website.
The idea of maintaining and optimising the leading UK online supplier of chemicals is a big responsibility, it is one we do not take lightly. Which is why we’re dedicated to making sure that the existing experience of a fast, simple, and easy purchasing experience not only stays the same, but is improved. We’re taking plenty of steps in order to deliver this improved experience, and I’d like to give you a brief insight into some of the work we’ve put into this project.
We needed to ensure that the new website remained familiar, so we decided to stick with our ReAgent brand colours of Blue, White and Orange. The layout of the design has changed drastically from the existing Chemicals.co.uk website, in our opinion, this has been changed for the better. The design of the site is now much more spacious, with elements helping your shopping experience now being emphasised and more obvious. You can see below a comparison between the old and the new website.
A relative amount of new functionality has been built into the new Chemicals website, all focused on improving the user journey for customers; both returning and new. One notceable piece of functionality we have built into the new website is the ‘Questions and Answer’ element on individual product pages. This gives the user the chance to ask a question about the respected product, live on the site, our sales team can then respond to the question on the website, which will prove useful for anybody who visits the website after the question has been answered.
Below, you can see an example of the question and answers functionality in use. With the simplicity of being able to ask a question live on the site, without having to submit an email or an application – your question will have to be approved by a member of our team, but once approved, an answer should follow shortly after.
One of the biggest improvements we have made to the Chemicals website checkout process is the addition of the ‘One Page Checkout’. This means that once you’ve added your products to the basket, and created your account, you can head straight to checkout. Once you’ve arrived at the checkout page there is then no other pages you will be taken too, the entire checkout process will take place in that one web-page. We believe that this will hugely improve the simplicity of processing the order online, and will likely result in an increase of orders.
Above, you can see an example of the checkout page we have developed. The extremely simple, secure and straightforward checkout process will prove to be a fantastic addition to our new website.
Plenty Of Tricks Up Our Sleeve
We don’t want to give too much away about the new website, but one thing is for sure… we’re confident that the new website will make online purchase of chemical products much easier for both our sales team, and our customers online. We expect the new website to be live by the end of the year, which we will be sure to issue an article around the time to outline any additional features we develop in the meantime.
